The increased amount of downtime most people will experience this week could be the perfect time to finally become a Pokémon master and complete the digital encyclopedia of creatures. Pokémon Shield trainers will want to find a Farfetch’d, to get their hands on the new evolution Sirfetch’d. Pokémon Sword players should look for the new Ghost-type form of Corsola right away, which is capable of evolving into the strange Pokémon Cursola. Pokémon Sword & Shield players will be able to find any and all version exclusive Pokémon from the opposite game this week. With the cancellations and social distancing of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, capturing all 400 creatures in the game may not seem like such a tedious task.
The event, officially titled the Pokédex Completion Event, is the first time in the history of the series where version exclusive Pokémon can be found in the wild areas of both games. Having certain Pokémon be unavailable in each version forces players to cooperate and trade with each other in order to complete their Pokédex. Version exclusive Pokémon have been a staple of the series since the very beginning in 1998’s Pokémon Red & Blue. An event has begun in Pokémon Sword & Shieldtoday which will allow players to find version exclusive Pokémon, which means that Pokémon that are normally only catchable in the Sword version of the game will now be available in Shield, and vice versa.
